Generation of hydrogen by electrolysis.

From the feasibility study to the presentation of results.

DATE: 09.2019
TIMING: 6 MONTHS

The project provided for a feasibility study regarding a 80 MW plant capable to produce hydrogen by electrolysis. A comparison between PEM and alkaline electrolyzers has been made (with offer requests to different suppliers), based on price, performance, flexibility, opex. Thus, a definition of the considered optimal solution has been reached based on a preliminary LCoH and the TLR level of technological maturity reached by a plant of this size. Steps were then taken to design the remaining part of the plant (BOP), downstream and upstream the electrolyzer, with related cost estimate and calculation of the resulting LCoH, completing the study with the equipment definition and the estimate of compression costs in line with possible storage

PROJECT

Plant to generate hydrogen by electrolysis and fuel gas turbines.

OBJECTIVE

To evaluate possible investments to reduce dependency on fossil fuels.

ANSWER

A multidisciplinary engineering team capable to analyze the context, design and quantify the costs of the new plant.
